Ginny Whitton

Ginny is an Independent Educational Psychologist who works across the
Cotswolds and Southwest.
Ginny has over 20 years’ experience working as an Educational Psychologist (EP) with children, young people, teachers and parents.
Ginny was awarded her Master’s degree in educational psychology in 2002 from the University of Bristol and her Undergraduate degree in Social Psychology from the University of Sussex in 1994. She completed a PGCE in primary education from the University of Cambridge in 1996.
Prior to qualifying as an EP, Ginny worked as a class teacher in a residential special school for children with social, emotional and learning needs.
Ginny has worked as a Local Authority Educational Psychologist for over 20 years and in private practice since 2016. She now works full time as an independent EP across the Southwest. Ginny has worked across a range of settings including state and independent schools, early years settings,
colleges and specialist provisions.
Ginny is experienced at carrying out independent, evidence-based assessments of children with a range of needs, including Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. She is skilled in ensuring children and young people feel at ease during an assessment.
Ginny was the lead EP working with the neurodevelopmental multidisciplinary team in Swindon. She has been one of the lead trainers for Cygnet (a national scheme devised by Barnardo’s for parents with children with autism) and been involved in establishing a borough-wide ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) project, delivering training and supervision. She has delivered training on a wide range of topics and been responsible for supervising EPs, Assistant and Trainee EPs and other
professionals.
Ginny is passionate about psychology and making a difference in child and young people's lives - helping them find solutions and make sense of complex situations.

Ginny is registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. She is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Division of Educational and Child Psychologists (BPS) and is an associate professional member of the British Dyslexia Association (BDA).
