Laura Carone

Laura is a highly motivated and enthusiastic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Laura has worked across a wide range of clinical settings, supporting children, young people, and their families including specialist neurodevelopmental settings; including working with looked after children; working in learning disability services as well as children’s psychiatric inpatient settings.

Laura has expertise in neurodevelopmental assessments, including the diagnosis and management of conditions such as Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and has undertaken formal training in ADOS and ADIR assessment tools.

Laura obtained her medical degree from the University of Nottingham and has also obtained a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) during her training. During both her time at university and post graduate training. Laura has been involved in research and is an author in several peer-reviewed articles.

Laura is a member of both the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Physicians. Laura has also obtained a Diploma in Child Health from The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and a Diploma in Legal Medicine from The Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine. More recently, Laura has completed her Master’s in Clinical Neuropsychiatry from The University of Birmingham, obtaining a distinction with her dissertation.

 Laura has received multiple positive feedback from families, colleagues, and young people regarding the care she provides. Laura has been praised numerous times for her friendly and person-centred approach and has received awards for the care she has provided to her patients.

Laura currently works as a substantive Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for Somerset Foundation Trust.
